What happened? Drop-cam was fine the way it was. Had two drop-cams already and added a nest cam to make a trio. App is super slow. Circle tiles dont let you see anything! Useless! App UI is lame. Best better hire some real app developers to fix this train wreck. The app always says my camera is offline even when it is not!!! Super bad. Update/ nest app tells me 4-5 times a day multiple of my dropcams are offline when they are not! The 10-15 notifications and emails a day are annoying!!!!

Please fix the battery drain on iPhone 6s Plus. No other app guarantees a percentage drop just for switching over to it for ages seconds. Would be nice to be able to see more than just the target temperatures on the main nest page. I.e see current temps or set targets.

Ever since the last update I can no longer talk through my dropcam to my children. I tried on iPad and iPhone.. no luck :(

Regarding this specific version of the app: Fix the contrast on the energy history screen. It looks like gray text over red graph bars. Its hard to read. Regarding nest cam app features: Home/Away assist is very unreliable. The camera often records when a registered phone is on location. Regarding the TV app: The 4th gen Apple TV has been out for over a year. Even before it was publicly released developers could get them sooner. Nest is just now releasing an Apple TV app and it doesnt allow the user to adjust thermostats? Seriously? Nest cam app performance: Performance while viewing recorded footage is very poor. It takes an unreasonable amount of time to load a clip for viewing. Sometimes the clip never loads even though the Wi-Fi connection is an 802.11ac connection with a tested download speed of 179 Mbits per second. It has been like this for about 6 months, at least, Ive only owned my cam for that amount of time. For all I know its never worked. What good is a security camera if you cant review footage??? Tested on an iPhone 5, two iPhone 6 devices, iPad 2, iPhone 7 plus. Tested on local high speed network, tested remotely over LTE and remotely from a wireless network with an internet download speed of 217 Mbps and used old of 297 Mbps. Those are actual speed test results from the iPhone 7 Plus on the remote network. The 179 mentioned earlier is the local network. No matter how fast the internet speed is the clips just show a perpetual loading indicator. Remember these are cloud clips. The video was already sent to the internet from the camera. So this is a problem with nests app and the nest cloud. Not a problem with my devices or my internet connection. Thermostat and HomeKit: For no good reason Nest does not support Apple home kit on their latest thermostat hardware. The app and hardware should take advantage of whatever unique features each platform has to offer that can extend the functionality of the device and improve the overall user experience. This should include apple HomeKit. I understand adding homekit integration requires special hardware inside the unit which is why I dont expect there to ever be HomeKit support on older thermostat generations but generation 3 should have it. Yes its a bit expensive to license but this is premium hardware being sold at premium price. I expect HomeKit support! A LOT of nest customers are complaining about this. Nest labs! Dont be stupid! Do you want ecobee and Honeywell to win over the millions of iOS users? WAKE UP. Ecobee has you beat right now in terms of features and options. Everything your thermostat does ecobee 3 does and... It does much more... including HomeKit, up to 32 wireless temperature sensors, Zigbee (and other protocols, supported and enabled). Get with the program!

Home/away assist is very buggy. Only detects one phone and not the other. Fails to set away and home automatically. Please resolve the issue asap

Here is my review - $240 in the summer is my highest electric bill and I live in AZ with two A/C units and my home is 3,200 sf. Set up the Nest correctly and it works. The app is fantastic and I like how it integrates with the Nest Protects Smoke Alarms that I have replaced in my home as well. It also fun to play with my wife when I am out traveling for work in another state and I can turn the temp up/down when she is not home.

Easy to install camera & very reliable. The app allows you to scroll back and forth thru time and highlights "motion" events. Great picture with cloud recording at a very reasonable price. Must have for peace of mind inside and out with the new outdoor version. Highly recommend!!!

Not a review of cameras but of the app itself... Finally an app for the AppleTV for viewing my nest cams. The app is awesome. Love being able to view the feeds all at the same time on my big screen. Easily scan back through the time line for events and motion recordings. I know there is a few quirks but from someone who works in the camera field it matches some top level companies who themselves are making a move to cloud base storage. No DVRs or media servers to maintain. The cameras are awesome as well. Love it!

The Google acquisition really seems to have ruined this product. Other reviews have indicated this but I will give another issue; It used to be if I was away I would set "Away" and the system would know to put the furnace and AC into "Away" mode. No more - I was surprised to see that my furnace keeps pounding away. Now the furnace wont go into away mode unless I activate location services on my phone so Google can have 24/7 knowledge of my whereabouts. No thanks. Time to check Out the competition. Money wasted on hardware here.

The app is a bit clumsy and often will need to go to help to figure how to use it. Also not very utilitarian. Usually app cant fix and I have to uninstall all the cameras then install on my compute. Newer cameras by other vendors are much easier to use and have more functions.

Works as expected.

This app is awful on an iPad. Certain features only appear in portrait orientation, while others only appear in landscape. So, thats a joy on an iPad with a Smart Cover attached. There are no conventional transport controls. Only a 15-second skip forward or back. No FF, no REW. Access to a scrubbable timeline requires turning the iPad to portrait. Its not accessible in landscape, where the video would be bigger and clearer. Also, at least on an iPad Pro, if you tap one of the notification emails you get from Nest, it launches a page in Safari that then tells you to get the Flash plugin. Why doesnt it launch the iOS app??

It used to be the case that if I told the Nest thermostat we were away, it would turn down the temperature and keep it there until we got home. Just now did that, went away for several hours, and came back to a house that would have been too warm even if we had been home. Between this and the horrible Nest Protect smoke detectors, we are done with this company and all of its products. I am disgusted.

Easy to install/use

Again with a new update that does not fix home away assist issues. Nest continues to have issues with the location services. I have been told to uninstall and reinstall the app. Guess what it still does not work. The entire reason for the purchase of the thermostat was to have the ability to be located and have my home heated when I got home. It worked last year when I installed it but not this winter. For the amount of money spent on the thermostat Nest can and should do better. Loved the product once and hoping the bugs get fixed.

I love the drop cam and the nest thermostat.
