Away ("eco") mode no longer works

It used to be the case that if I told the Nest thermostat we were away, it would turn down the temperature and keep it there until we got home. Just now did that, went away for several hours, and came back to a house that would have been too warm even if we had been home. Between this and the horrible Nest Protect smoke detectors, we are done with this company and all of its products. I am disgusted.
