I haven’t been able to reliably log in for months. Often I can log in on the website but even there I occasionally get an unspecified error. How is it that with a google-owned service, I can’t login with google?

Been learning for two months now. We still wake up in the middle of freezing Minnesota nights to a thermostat that nest has auto set to 58 and lately in the mornings I’ll wake up sweating because it turned itself up to 72. There isn’t an option to set our optimal temperature for sleep and wake, or if there is I can’t figure it out. I even downloaded google home because we’re supposed to be able to do more through that app but thats not any more useful.

Opting out of the “Energy Rebates” ads would be amazing.

After the last update, the app is not properly recognizing home or away location. It constantly reverts to away eco mode. I have to turn home on for heat and my phone’s location. Please fix this bug.

I have the Home away and location settings set up correctly yet the app continually sends me notifications that I should lock the door saying no one is home when the entire family is home please fix this! Once again, I have quadruple checked all the settings are correct in both the nest app as well as the Google app.

Home/Away function based on location has stopped working about 2 weeks ago. You have a bunch of recent reviews where the same issue is being reported. Please address and fix!!

The app logs me out often, and the sign in process is laborious.

This app is one of the worst. Not user friendly and frustrating.

This thing has a mind of its own….. and turns to what ever temperature it wants. The schedule is so frustrating and even when you set up a schedule it changes it.

How many times do I have to re-login into my thermostat??? Then I have to grab my yubikey, get the code sent to my email, grab the the code, confirm it’s me… only to change the temp?

Only one problem with this app sticks out: it can take several seconds from launching it to being able to adjust the thermostat, even if you happen to be on the same network. It’s been this way for a while.

I'm confused about why, in the middle of the night and early morning, the temperature inside my house drops to 64 degrees when I've set the thermostat to 72. With the outside temperature at 27 degrees, it’s too cold inside, and I’m not happy about this. I had hoped that switching to Google Nest would solve the problem.

Not understanding why thermostat automatically switches to Eco.

I have had the thermostat for two years. Since day one, it keeps disconnecting from the internet because it goes to sleep mode. I went through tech support several times and they always confirmed enough power and no issues to cause the thermostat to disconnects. They eventually sent a replacement thermostat. The same issue exists. It is just like having a dumb thermostat. I am never able to control the thermostat while away from home because it disconnects from the internet within hours after connecting it. It is not worth it. I plan to switch to another type of thermostat. I just hate that I wasted this much money on the nest.

These units are constantly offline despite strong internet speeds at house and close proximity to server rack and repeaters.

Stopped working sometime in the last couple months. I can see my phone “here” at home yet the app is still in “away” mode. Reset, restarted, removed the phone, connected again - same garbage.

Home/Away is not working hardly ever. Defeats the purpose of even having the camera at times and it’s even worse after the migration with Google. The app doesn’t open the first time, I have to force close and re open every time now.

Home Away Assist has stopped working. Additionally, it seems like the thermostat controls are off. This morning, I noticed that the AC was on, but the room was cold. I adjusted the temperature and the AC turned off, yet the numbers did not reflect my changes in their app. The app needs an update. I am resisting going to the Google app.

Canera stops workywhen someone rings the doorbell. It makes it unusable.

This only effectively works for 1 user (Phone).

It’s 4:00 in the afternoon on a Sunday, our ac is running, set on 67. It’s cold in our house. This is not the first time this has happened. It is not what is on our schedule.

Camera works, but doorbell doesn’t register

Home/away acts erratically. Switched to away while all connected phones were home. Switched to home while all phones are away. You can’t change temperature on phone through the app and have it adjust the thermostat.

My automatic home/away assist/switch does not always work, and lately it started dropping the temperature in the evening regardless of the schedule.

I’ve deleted and reinstalled this app so many times it’s ridiculous. I’ve updated the app settings to “always” use my location so it knows when I’m home. And despite all that, and occasionally yelling at the app, I still continue multiple times a day to have to manually change the setting from “away” to “home” because the app won’t do it. I wish I could go back to a mercury thermostat, so I wouldn’t have to deal with this frustration.

Set up is difficult, connecting devices is difficult, and maintaining connectivity for a long period of time is impossible. Terrible product.

The thermostat no longer turns off eco mode when the phone detects it’s home

I still use the Nest app as my go to. Google home just isn’t really useful to go back and check videos. They still need to take lessons from Nest.

The NEST thermostat does what it’s supposed to for the most part. You can control it from your phone. It will try to schedule around your adjustments only at first. For some reason it’ll lock in that schedule forever. You’ll have to manually change it yourself afterwards. The location feature is great when it works appropriately. When you’re away from home it can put the thermostat in eco mode to decrease the system being on. It’ll go back to normal mode when you’re home again. The only issue with this is sometimes it thinks you are away when you are home and it can get uncomfortable. The app won’t refresh either and you’ll just have to manually adjust the temp. Overall it does the job just has some issues to deal with or fix.

Nest was great until google took it over. I will go to a different camera as long as google is not involved. Recordings are missing, will not pick up motion when needed.

Several times my temperature has rose to 80 during the day while at work. I have never once adjusted any scale that high. My thermometer adjusts temps after i have changed it. Loosing patience with this device.

Home away assist using phone location seems to have broken with the last update. Have uninstalled/reinstalled the app, checked that background is enabled, and location is set to always. The app detects that the phone is at home, but the thermostat stays in eco mode until I walk up to it.

There's a bug in the Nest Thermostat control and that of the app lately. In the past whenever the fan was running, the little fan icon on the Nest device and in the app would spin. Unfortunately this nice indicator has need disabled for months which make it difficult to learn the status of the fan in the furnace. Hope Nest could fix it soon. Thank.

Like these cameras

Thermostat has been getting stuck at 86 degrees 10x and counting since 2023 to present. A few times while we were home. Waking up unable ti breathe cause of the heat several times now coming home to a weekend out of town and walls of the house became untouchable hot, which only mean it stayed running at that high of a temp. Scheduled to replace it with a different product.

Works as advertised. Being able to monitor temps while traveling is big deal.

Very tedious to make changes to the weekly schedule. Removed several setpoints from the weekly schedule via desktop on Monday. On Thursday the weekly schedule had reverted to the original schedule. Home/Away Assist only follows the location of one cell phone. Today the Nest decidedI was Away and set the heat down to 51 eventhough Home/Away aAssist is turned off.

The last update caused the away feature to stop working. Time to find a thermostat and app that works. Don’t waste your money unless you like being frustrated.

doesn't do the one thing I bought it for - warn before going off.

App crashes at least once every time I use it.

This app has always worked good. One of the cameras burnt 2 yrs ago, Google replaced it. 2 months ago the replaced camera burnt again, this time no help from support to get it working again. Today (4/3) my other camera stopped working. It keeps saying “off line” and when I tried going to settings it kicks me out of the app. This app went from being my favorite for security to being the app I hate the most. Costumer service is the worse too.

The app is slow and it crashes constantly. I can open the app I see my device and a second later it says it lost connection or something and I have to restart it. It also often happens when changing between homes. I just don’t understand how this few devices can’t be set up and controlled through the Google Home app.

This app is a joke! It’s always delayed.
